City of Parramatta Council, Head Office, Parramatta NSW

bokor architecture + interiors were engaged to create a concept for a new activity based workplace as a test floor for future roll outs across 9 floors of the councils Parramatta offices.

bokor undertook an observational study over 9 floors over a 1 week period where we recorded activity every 40minutes to see how the spaces were used by the council’s 700 staff. Together with user  surveys and workshops, the observational study provided the philosophy for the creative concept and future floor layouts.

The aim of the design was to provide connectivity at any point throughout the floor with a mixture of fixed desks, unassigned desks, focus areas and collaboration points. The design would accommodated a range of working styles and included flexible spaces that maximised interaction and could be used multiple ways to suit differing working styles.

Unfortunately the project was not fully realised due to structural changes within the council. The constructed design was a value engineered base build fit out with large break out & communal space.
